City Council


Members & Elections

The City Council introduces and votes on all official municipal policies. The Moberly City Council consists of five (5) members, all of whom are elected at-large. A councilman serves in office for a term of three (3) years.

Each April, the City Council elects one of its members as Mayor and another as Mayor Pro Tem. The appointed Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem will serve a one-year term.

Bob Riley was elected to the Moberly City Council on April 2, 2002 for a three-year term. He served another three-year term in 2005. He was named the Mayor Pro Tem on April 16, 2007. He was again elected to a three-year term in April of 2008 and will be eligible for re-election in April of 2011. In April 2010, Mr. Riley was appointed Mayor and while hold that office for a term of one year. Mr. Riley is currently serving a three year term that will expire in 2014.

Herb Lawrence was elected to the Moberly City Council on April 3, 2007 for a three-year term. He was re-elected in April of 2010 for another three-year term which will expire April 2013.

Wayne Schirmer is the City Counselor. He drafts all of the ordinances and resolutions that are necessary for the City Council Meetings. He serves as the City Counselor to address legal issues when they arise.
