Household Hazardous Waste
| Purpose The purpose of the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program is to reduce the amount of hazardous wastes that are released into the environment either through the municipal solid waste stream entering area landfills or through illegal dumping. Existing regulations for disposal of hazardous wastes clearly exempt household products yet; many household products contain hazardous substances. The depth and breadth of this problem is impossible to accurately assess due to the variety of the products that may potentially become HHW and their wide spread use. Preventing these household hazardous products from becoming wastes through their collection, redistribution and reuse is the least expensive method of handling the materials while providing the greatest benefit to the community and the environment. | Facility Location: 1553 E. Logan The facility will be open the 2nd Saturday of each month beginning March 10th from 8:00am to 12:00pm or by appointment. For more information, contact: |
