Greetings Moberly and Visitors!
Happy New Year! It is hard for me to believe that we are already in 2010. I started as the Parks and Recreation Director in March, and I feel like I have only been here for a couple of months sometimes. As I look at what our department has accomplished, though, I realize that the old adage of “time flies when you are having fun” is absolutely true.
There have been many obvious achievements for the department this year. The opening of the new Aquatic Center, the new Disc Golf course, and moving to our brand-new offices come immediately to mind. However, there are so many other things that were started in 2009, but will come to fruition in 2010. The new multipurpose building “The Lodge at Rothwell Park”, the long-overdue renovation of the Municipal Auditorium and the implementation of our new online registration and reservation system are all exciting projects that the public will be able to enjoy as we start the New Year. All of these projects will bring new life to what is already a fantastic Parks and Recreation system.

I want to take a moment to thank the Moberly Parks and Recreation staff and the Moberly Park Board for their tireless efforts to not only ensure that we have a superior Parks and Recreation department, but for being so welcoming and supportive of me as I transitioned into my new position. There have been a lot of changes in the past year, and everyone has not only met but far exceeded my expectations.
As we head into the New Year, please take time to enjoy what a truly unique community we live in. Rothwell Park and all of our other parks and facilities are treasures that you, the citizens of Moberly, have made possible. This message would be ten pages long if I tried to thank everyone for their individual and group contributions to this department, but we truly appreciate all that you do! Because of you, we offer a multitude of activities and special events that rely on you to be successful, so please come out and have some fun with us. There are so many new events, classes and activities for you to enjoy this coming year. I hope that you have an opportunity this year to take advantage of everything that Moberly Parks and Recreation has to offer!
