Three officers received promotions this week during ceremony held at City Hall. Members of the Moberly High School JROTC presented the colors and led the audience in the pledge of allegiance. Chief Bobby Calvert presided over the event, presenting bios of each officer and sharing personal memories of their shared careers. City Clerk Shannon Hance administered the oath of office to the officers, and each were pinned by a family member.

Major Tracey Hayes began her law enforcement career in 1998 after graduating from the Law Enforcement Training Center at Moberly Area Community College. She joined the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy before becoming a patrol officer with the Moberly Police Department in 2000. She was promoted to K9 handler in 2002, serving in that role until 2007, when she became a detective. In 2013, she was promoted to Detective Sergeant, and in 2016, she advanced to Commander. A graduate of the Missouri Police Chief’s Command College in 2020, she was promoted to Assistant Chief, holding the rank of Major, on July 1, 2025. She was pinned by her husband, Circuit Judge Scott Hayes.
Sergeant Timothy R. Maag enlisted in the Missouri National Guard in 2010 as an Infantryman, serving six years with Alpha Company, 1-138th Infantry Regiment (Booneville), including in Ferguson in 2014. He completed his enlistment in 2016 at the rank of Specialist. A graduate of the MACC Police Academy, Sgt. Maag began his law enforcement career in 2014, serving as a jailer, Shift Supervisor, and Deputy Sheriff with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office before joining the Moberly Police Department in 2019. He currently serves as a Corporal, Assistant SWAT Team Leader, Field Training Officer, and instructor for Tactical Combat Casualty Care and firearms. Beyond his duties, Sgt. Maag is active in youth sports and community outreach. He was pinned by his wife, Rachele.
Corporal Russ Untiedt served in the United States Marine Corps from 2003 to 2014 as a Combat Engineer, with deployments to Iraq, Africa, and Afghanistan. During his military career, he served as a Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Recruiter, and Operations Chief, earning multiple promotions and completing specialized training including the Sapper Leaders Course and Staff NCO Academy. After leaving the Marines, he attended the Moberly Area Community College Law Enforcement Training Center, where he served as class president. He joined the Moberly Police Department in December 2023, where he serves as a Corporal and a member of the Moberly Area SWAT Team. He was pinned by his father, Les.
