[ARCHIVED] Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Dom Abuse 2025

(Moberly, MO - 10/1/25) In just one day across the United States and its territories, nearly 75,000 victims of domestic violence seek help from programs and shelters. On that same day, more than 9,000 requests for critical services such as housing, transportation, childcare, and legal assistance go unmet due to lack of resources.
To shine a light on this urgent issue, Mayor Brandon Lucas has issued a proclamation declaring October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the City of Moberly. The proclamation emphasizes the wide-ranging impact of domestic violence—on individuals, families, and communities in Moberly and around the world.
The need for safe housing continues to be the most urgent concern for survivors. Moberly joins with cities across Missouri and the nation to support victims of domestic violence while sending a clear message: domestic violence is not tolerated in our community.
Education also plays a critical role. By learning to recognize the warning signs of abuse, understanding available resources, and starting conversations in schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods, residents can help break the cycle of violence and foster a safer community.
In solidarity with Safe Passage and survivor networks, the Clock Tower at Depot Park will #GlowPurpleForAPurpose throughout October, symbolizing our community’s commitment to awareness, education, and prevention.
