Volunteers on the Job

Volunteer Project

Phi Theta Kappa, the National Honor Society at Moberly Area Community College, has once again stepped up to help the City of Moberly. Phi Theta Kappa and the City are working diligently to remind area residents, via the Storm Drain Stenciling Program, that many of our storm drains are directly connected to local creeks, streams and lakes.

Stormwater flows over driveways, lawns, streets and parking lots picking up litter, leaves and lawn clippings, chemicals and other pollutants. Everything that enters the storm drain system is discharged untreated into the water bodies we use for recreation and drinking water. Polluted runoff, also known as nonpoint source pollution, is the nation’s greatest threat to clean water.
