Keeping Streets Clean
The Public Works/Street Department acquired this Ford truck with a Tymco sweeper in 2014 at a cost of nearly $200,000. The street sweeper is operated by the Public Works Department throughout the year.
In 2020 the street sweeper was operated a total of 603 hours and collected approximately 1,572 cubic yards of material.
The street sweeper is integral part of deterring waste from the combined sewer system and preventing blockages.
Blockage
Often, if left in the street, the litter and trash will create a blockage in the storm drain during a rain and the street will flood. During heavy rains, the street may become impassable due to high water.
